What is a Database Management System (DBMS)?

  • Basics of Databases
  • Understanding Tables, Records, and Fields
  • Introduction to MS Access or MySQL
  • Simple Queries and Data Operations
  1. Hierarchical DBMS:
    • Organizes data in a tree-like structure where each record has a parent-child relationship. It is best suited for applications where data can be naturally represented in a hierarchy (e.g., organizational structures).
    • Example: IBM’s Information Management System (IMS).
  2. Network DBMS:
    • Similar to hierarchical systems, but allows more complex relationships where a child can have multiple parents. Data is represented using a graph structure.
    • Example: Integrated Data Store (IDS).
  3. Relational DBMS (RDBMS):
    • The most widely used DBMS type, where data is organized in tables (also called relations) with rows and columns. SQL is used for querying and managing data.
    • Examples: MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server.
  4. Object-Oriented DBMS (OODBMS):
    • Combines object-oriented programming principles with databases, storing data as objects rather than rows and columns. This type is used for applications requiring complex data models.
    • Example: db4o, ObjectDB.
  5. NoSQL DBMS:
    • Designed for unstructured or semi-structured data and provides flexibility in terms of data models. It is typically used in big data and real-time web applications.
    • Types of NoSQL databases include Document-based, Key-Value stores, Column-based, and Graph databases.
    • Examples: MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis, Neo4j.

Each type of DBMS has its strengths and is chosen based on the data requirements, complexity, and scale of the application.

  • Adobe Photoshop: Basic Image Editing, Layers, Filters
  • CorelDRAW: Vector Graphics and Designing
  • Canva: Quick Design for Posters and Presentations
  • Basic Video Editing with OpenShot or Premiere Pro

What is Web Development?

  • Introduction to HTML5 and CSS3
  • Creating Simple Static Websites
  • Introduction to JavaScript Basics (Interactive Web Elements)
  • Overview of Web Hosting and Domains
  • Cybersecurity Basics: Internet Safety, Antivirus, Password Protection
  • Introduction to ERP Tools and Accounting Software (Tally Basics)
  • Practical Use of CRM Software
  • Resume Writing and Professional Email Etiquette
  • Soft Skills: Communication, Presentation, Time Management
  • Project Work:
    • Develop a project integrating learned tools (e.g., designing a website, managing a database, or automating tasks in Excel).
  • Internal Assessments: End of each module
  • Final Practical Exam: Comprehensive assessment of all modules
  • Project Submission: Mandatory for course completion
  • Classes are 2–3 hours daily with theoretical and practical sessions.
  • Optional doubt-clearing and revision sessions every weekend.
  • Certificates will be provided after successful completion of the course.
